Talita Kumi
From the recent garden to table blog I wrote, I would like to introduce you to a place that should be in your itinerary should you plan a quick weekend in Alfonso or Tagaytay - Talita Kumi. The allure of this place simply comes from the fact that we can visit the organic farm and harvest our own vegetables for the weekend. It's a great activity with family and friends.
Depending on what crops are in season, you will be delighted by being able to pick as much as you need. The price per kilo is very affordable and personally, we are more than glad to buy because we also get to help in funding scholarships for less privileged children which is one of the main activities spearheaded by Father Giovanni, the Italian Canossian priest who runs Talita Kumi.
They have broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, raddish, cucumber, lima beans, carrots, tomatoes and sometimes if you're really lucky even strawberries! Passion fruit is also abundant here and we love making them into juice or use them to spice up dessert.
You will find a charming chapel here that could be a potential venue for renewal of vows. If you're thinking wedding, then prepare to work in advance to ask for a special dispensation from your diocese. Good luck on that.
Here's a view of what's inside. Beautiful and intimate and naturally comes with butterflies.
Talita Kumi exists as a venue for retreats but another reason why we are such regulars here is because of their simple, home cooked Italian food. I love their tuna fusilli...
...and their margherita pizza. They also have home made gelato. I love their frutti di bosco and hazelnut flavors. Each serving has 2 scoops so you can ask to combine 2 flavors.
Talita Kumi is located in Barangay Bilog, Alfonso, Cavite. If you're on the National Highway from Tagaytay, turn right on Buck Estate Road when you see the big sign to Sonya's Garden. Go straight down and the road will fork once you hit Sonya's Garden. Take the road on the right and travel down until you hit the farm lots. Keep traveling until you see Talita Kumi. You can call their mobile +63917 8372447 or +63917 5262383 or email them at talitakumi_alfonso@yahoo.com.
Enjoy!
